Elyria Works Now!

A Message For Potential Elyria Works Now! Participants

From Elyria, Ohio Mayor Holly Brinda

Dear Fellow Elyrians,

The City of Elyria and our community partners are so very pleased to offer you this opportunity to create a better life!  The truth is:  the American dream is still alive and well in Elyria, Ohio.  You just have to be open to the possibilities.  For example, entry level jobs in manufacturing are actually plentiful in Elyria – and the companies that are offering them provide opportunities for advancement!

At present Elyria Works Now is working with four local manufacturers looking to fill entry-level positions, and we plan to add more in the future.  If you are willing to consider a job in manufacturing and make a commitment to spend a short period of time learning about the field and what is required – you will be given an opportunity to interview and get placed in a job that will lead to a career.

Over the next 10 years, the United States will need to fill 3.5 million manufacturing jobs, but 2 million of these jobs are likely to go unfilled.  Elyria being largely a manufacturing community is experiencing the same trend, and those who recognize this can benefit from this shortage.  All too often manufacturing has a negative stereotype and our youth live in a generation that has not been introduced to the art of building things.  We need to change this and you can be part of the change!

There is great pride and personal satisfaction and rewards in working for an Elyria company that makes products with a global impact.  Products from Elyria can be found in almost every corner of the earth and beyond.  You can change your life and change the world by being a maker and choosing a career in manufacturing.  To learn more, please browse our website of call the Mayor’s Office at (440) 326-1402.  We look forward to seeing you.
